La Agencia Extremeña de la Energía acaba (Agenex) de publicar los datos sobre el Balance Energético de  Extremadura 2010-2011, en el que destaca el aumento de la producción eléctrica gracias a las energías renovables, que ya abastecen a un millón y medio de hogares en la comunidad.

Conocer la evolución de las energías renovables en el marco de la producción eléctrica nacional es un factor interesante para conocer la evolución estratégica de un país, sobre todo cuando su alta dependencia energética exterior hace imprescindible el desarrollo de políticas promotoras de las fuentes verdes. Precisamente, ayer conocimos el último Balance Energético de la comunidad de Extremadura, que muestra esta evolución durante los años 2010 y 2012, y arroja cifras esperanzadoras para el medioambiente.

Portada del estudio de producción eléctrica de ExtremaduraEn concreto, el estudio recoge las principales cifras del sector, que indica que en 2011 alcanzó los 21.342 Gigavatios/hora (GWh), fomentado por la energía nuclear, la predominante en la comunidad, y por la integración en el mercado de las energías de régimen especial, como la termosolar y la biomasa. Esta cifra global de producción eléctrica, según detalla el informe, es 4,7 veces superior a las necesidades de la región, y proviene en un 74,3% de la energía nuclear, en un 25,43% de las energías renovables e hidráulicas y en un 0,27% de la cogeneración (energía eléctrica y térmica).

La comunidad de Extremadura se encuentra entre las cuatro primeras de producción eléctrica termosolar, y es la segunda en potencia instalada tras Andalucía. Entre 2010 y 2011 pasó de los 50 Megavatios q a 300 Mw en 2011, lo que supone un incremento del 500 por ciento. Estas cifras ponen de relieve la capacidad de abastecimiento energético de la comunidad solo con la participación de las renovables, al generar 5.427 GWh suficientes para abastecer a 1,5 millones de hogares, mientras que el consumo interior es de 4.477 Gwh.

En cuanto al consumo, en el período mencionado se produjo un descenso del 3,53%, superior a la media española, situándose en 4,04 MWh por habitante al año, debido principalmente a las políticas de ahorro y eficiencia energética y la incorporación de las nuevas plantas termosolares.

Actualmente, en Extremadura se encuentran operativas 17 plantas de energía termosolar de las 19 preasignadas por el ministerio de Industria, Energía y Turismo, lo que supone una potencia total de 850 megavatios.

En cuanto a la producción fotovoltaica, la comunidad cuenta hoy en día con la mayor planta del mundo con seguimiento a dos ejes, ubicada en Don Álvaro (Badajoz) y tiene una potencia de 35 megavatios.

A pesar de ello, desde Agenex valoran la necesidad de seguir insistiendo en mejorar tanto el conocimiento de las técnicas como convencer a los responsables municipales, pymes, empresas, explotaciones agrícolas y ganaderas etc., sobre la rentabilidad derivada de aplicar medidas de mejora de su eficiencia energética, sobre todo ante la coyuntura económica dominada por la crisis.
